If there’s one thing I want to see when I come home after a long day of corporate drudgery in the office, it’s a long day of other people’s corporate drudgery in The Office. Late to the game, but perhaps better never, Australia has decided to throw its corked hat into the ring with its own version of the seminal workplace comedy. However, not ones to stagnate, Australia has decided to indulge every man’s corporate fantasy by giving us the franchise’s first girl boss.

Felicity Ward is set to star as Hannah Howard, the girl boss strong independent woman manager of the newest series of the long-running, award-winning comedy, which many are already describing as ‘The Office’.

I have no doubt we’ll be able to look forward to much the same insipid and tedious office based humour that has delighted us for many years in the past. ‘Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee!’ Oh, you. At least this time we might have a nice arse or two to look at before they’re slapped onto the photocopier at the office party.

To set the tone for what to expect of this latest corporate comedy offering, Felicity Ward is a previously established female comedian, whose stand-up performances consist of the fairly standard female comedian fare of discussing her train wreck of a sex life and her feminine bodily functions. Coupled with the existing format of the cringe inducing boss, I fully anticipate a depressing, mawkish portrayal of a wine swilling cat lady with a barren womb and untreated mental health issues, who treats her colleagues as a surrogate family (or a work family, as they say) in lieu of any real family of her own.

Fortunately, God saw fit to grant me the boon of not being born Australian, so I shan’t be watching it anyway.
