The Iranian judiciary has executed two men, Yousef Mehrdad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare, by hanging, after finding them guilty of blaspheming the Religion of Peace.

It is reported that one of the accused confessed to the crime of publishing seditious and blasphemous materials online via the Telegram group ‘Critique of Superstition and Religion‘, which disparaged the Religion of Peace and promoted atheism, in a statement which was surely entirely voluntary and couldn’t possibly have been coerced involving the use of car batteries and nipple clamps.

Iran, famous for its groundbreaking strides in its development of human rights following the Iranian Revolution in 1979, has executed at leas 203 people this year so far, and 582 people last year.

The executions follow months of protests over the arrest and subsequent death in hospital of 22-year-old Mahsa “Jina” Amini. The arrest, by the country’s Morality Police, was over not wearing the hijab in public, something we are often told by top Muslim clerics is something entirely optional under the Religion of Peace and something women just love to do. Her death in hospital follwing the arrest has been reported to have occurred under ‘suspicious circumstances’. The protests that followed saw the arrests and/or deaths of a further 20,000 people.
